India and Pakistan have formally agreed to a ceasefire following days of heightened tensions, Dr S Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister of India and Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed on Saturday evening.
India’s External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar, in a social media post on X, says his country and Pakistan have “worked out an understanding on stoppage of firing and military action”.
“India has consistently maintained a firm and uncompromising stance against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. It will continue to do so,” he added.
On the other hand, Dar said Pakistan had always been open to a ceasefire. He extended gratitude to all countries that played a role in brokering the ceasefire, especially acknowledging efforts by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
