Alberta school boards strike tentative deal with unionized support workers
The union representing more than 4,000 school support workers says they have reached tentative deals that could end a two-month strike as early as Wednesday. The Canadian Union of Public Employees says the contracts are for staff with the Edmonton Public School Board as well as the public and Catholic school boards in Fort McMurray.
Union president Rory Gill says specific details won't be released until the settlements have been ratified by members this week.
He says all three deals include pay increases and would be valid through August 2028.

Canadian woman returns home after being detained by U.S. immigration officials
The mother of a British Columbia woman who was detained for nearly two weeks by immigration officials in the United States says her daughter is back on home soil.
Alexis Eagles confirmed Saturday that her daughter, Jasmine Mooney, landed at the Vancouver International Airport at around midnight and returned to her home in the city.
Eagles says she was at the airport to greet her 35-year-old daughter, along with friends of Mooney's.

AHS confirms cases of measles in Edmonton, public exposure possible in two locations
Alberta Health Services says it has confirmed multiple cases of measles in the Edmonton area. The health authority is warning that public exposure to the highly contagious disease may have occurred at two Edmonton locations last week.
AHS says those who attended the Belle Rive Medicentres Family Health Care Clinic in the north end on Wednesday afternoon could have been exposed.
Anyone who attended the Stollery Children's Hospital's emergency department late Friday evening may have been exposed as well.

Man shot, injured in wooded area where he was living in Burnaby, B.C.: RCMP
Police in Metro Vancouver say they're investigating a shooting that injured a 71-year-old man on Saturday.
A statement from Burnaby RCMP says officers found the victim in a wooded area near Highway 1 and Willingdon Avenue, where the man was apparently living.
While the man's injuries appear serious, police say he was in stable condition after being taken to hospital for treatment.
The Mounties say the shooting is believed to have been isolated.
They say officers were called to the area at about 10:15 p.m.
