A Pakistani organization, the Pakistan World Alliance, has nominated former Prime Minister Imran Khan for the Nobel Peace Prize. The group has called for the imprisoned leader to be recognized for his efforts in promoting human rights and democracy.

The Pakistan World Alliance was founded in December last year and is affiliated with the Norwegian political party Partiet Centrum. Each year, the Norwegian Nobel Committee receives hundreds of nominations before selecting the winner through an extensive eight-month process.

Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan’s main opposition party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has been in jail since August 2023. In January, he was sentenced to 14 years in prison in a corruption case.
