Police in Vancouver arrest man suspected of vandalizing Tesla dealership
Police in Vancouver say they have arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly vandalizing a Tesla dealership. A statement from police says officers went to the dealership in the city's Kitsilano neighbourhood at about 1:30 a.m. on Friday following reports that a man had spray-painted obscenities on the front window of the business.
They say a witness had called 911, allowing officers to respond immediately, and they located the suspect nearby.
The man has since been released and directed to appear in court on May 15.

Farmer leaders chose not to attend the meeting called by the Punjab government on Friday to discuss issues with farmers. Prior to the meeting with the state government, a session of the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha was held, where all parties unanimously decided to skip the talks.

Khanauri Border Opens After Shambhu, Normal Traffic Resumes
The Khanauri border between Punjab and Haryana, which had been closed for 13 months due to the farmers' agitation, was reopened on Friday, allowing traffic to flow once again on the Delhi-Patiala highway. Haryana Police removed the cement barricades to facilitate the reopening.
Earlier, on March 20, the Shambhu border between Ambala and Patiala was also reopened by Punjab Police. On March 19, both the Shambhu and Khanauri borders were cleared of farmers who had been protesting there for over a year, led by Jagjit Singh Dallewal and Sarwan Singh Pandher, to press their demands.

Carney confirms Liberals won't proceed with planned capital gains tax change
Days before he's expected to call a federal election, Prime Minister Mark Carney is confirming he won't move ahead with a key Liberal tax policy.
The Prime Minister's Office says a plan to hike the inclusion rate on capital gains, first pitched in the federal budget last year, will not move forward.
The proposal was set to take effect on June 25 of last year and would have seen all businesses and individuals reporting more than $250,000 in capital gains in a year pay more tax on those proceeds.

Tesla vehicle fires being investigated as arson: Calgary police
Police in Calgary are investigating after two Tesla vehicles are believed to have been intentionally set on fire. Officers were called to a downtown charging station Tuesday night and found a Tesla car on fire.
The fire is believed to have been intentionally set with an accelerant.
Police say they were called the next day to a southside Tesla storage lot and found a Tesla Cybertruck that they believe was also intentionally set ablaze. Investigators say they believe the two fires are connected.

Manish Sisodia Appointed as New In-Charge of Punjab AAP
Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has been appointed as the Aam Aadmi Party's in-charge of Punjab affairs. The decision was made during a meeting of the Parliamentary Affairs Committee at the residence of the party's national convener, Arvind Kejriwal.
As part of this decision, Sisodia and former Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain will oversee the operations of AAP's Punjab unit. Sources indicate that both Sisodia and Jain will take on a more active role in Punjab in the coming months.

Prime Minister Mark Carney hosting a meeting with Canada's premiers today
Prime Minister Mark Carney is hosting Canada's premiers today in Ottawa as the provinces grapple with the effects of Chinese and U.S. tariffs.
The meeting is taking place just days before Carney is expected to launch a federal election campaign that would send Canadians to the polls as soon as April 28.
The meeting with the premiers will be held this afternoon at the Canadian War Museum.

Liberals revoke Arya's nomination, after removing him from leadership race
Liberal MP Chandra Arya says his nomination to run for the party again in his Ottawa riding has been revoked.
The 62-year-old has represented the city's Nepean seat since 2015.
The decision to remove him comes almost two months after the party also told Arya it would not accept him as a candidate for the leadership.
